Third Space: Landscape & Windows by Mark Adams at PS Mirabel

Third Space: Landscapes & Windows is a solo show of work by photographer Mark Adams, winner of PS Mirabel’s 2014 open exhibition. Images in this exhibition explore the third space – a locale where, according to theorist Edward Soja, 'everything comes together … subjectivity and objectivity, the abstract and the concrete, the real and the imagined, structure and agency'.

This exhibition comprises a selection of photographs taken between 2000 and 2014 in various locations from southern Spain, the United States, Sweden and northern England. Photographer Mark Adams explores the impulsive act of walking, voyeurism and flaneurship as integral to street and landscape photography. The exhibition is part retrospective but features new projects by the photographer who is currently navigating and photographing canals, rivers, streams and coastlines in the north west of England.

Adams has exhibited in Britain, Europe and the United States. Recent exhibitions include images for Seeing Beckett, part of the Liverpool Irish Festival and Beckett in the Regions International Conference, the Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition which toured the UK and the Art Moves Festival in Torun, Poland. He received the Chris Garnham Memorial Prize for Photography from the Royal College of Art where he studied. He is currently represented by Millennium Images and Arcangel Images, and is Lecturer in Photography at the University of Bolton.

You can see the exhibition from 28 February to 11 April 2015 at 14-20 Mirabel Street, Manchester, M3 1PJ. There will be a Private View on 26 February 2015 (18.00 – 21.00). For further details see the website here.
