Portrait of Doran, LA 2023

From my ongoing project about a 7th generation family business of undertakers.

Car crossing the desert on an unpaved road.

It was shot in a split second as I was walking by in Lepe Country Park 2013

While it looks as if it ought to be in Texas it was actually shot in Epping Forest just outside London.

Marcus Bastel

Marcus Bastel is a London-based photographer with a fine art background. He studied at Sheffield Hallam University followed by the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Whilst his early work focused on multimedia istallations, incorporating photography and film, for the last 20 years he has focused solely on photography, developing his own style, striking a balance between fine art and documentary photography. His work has been exhibited internationally.

He has travelled through North America for various projects, including Faces of Mustang. Other recent projects include an urban street photography collaboration for an architecture column and an ongoing project documenting a 7th generation family business of undertakers. It is people and their stories, that inspire his work.
