For the Lives of All Women/Pela Vida das Mulheres is a collection of photographs and interviews by Camila Cavalcante. Camila travelled around Brazil meeting women who have had, or who have been witnesses to, illegal abortions. She developed a network of women in Brazil that joined the debate and shared their stories.

The photographs are nude self-portraits, holding and hugging the women in their homes, with their back to the camera, while Cavalcante reveals her face, exposing her body and her identity in their name.

Inspired by the chant that people took to the streets to fight for women’s rights in Brazil and all over the world, Break the Habit Press are creating For The Lives of All Women – a bilingual book with the most powerful images of the project, as well as interviews with the collaborators and essays from activists and experts.

“With the state of politics around the world and the threat to our reproductive rights, and our lives, a book like this is more important than ever. We need to spread the word; we must prevent women like those in this book, from unnecessary suffering or even death. We can do this. Together we are stronger!” – Kezia Bayard-White, Break the Habit Press.
