Exhibition: ‘UNMISTAKABLY BRADFORD 2016’ at Bradford School of Art.

‘UNMISTAKABLY BRADFORD 2016’  Bradford School of Art students working in collaboration with Bradford Museum & Galleries at the Photo Archive, Industrial Museum…

In January of 2016, a group of first year BA Photography students from Bradford School of Art at Bradford College, visited Bradford Museums Photo Archive at Bradford Industrial Museum, along with their tutor Andy Vaines. They viewed our photographic collections and learned how curators use observational and historical knowledge to date photographs which sometimes have little or no additional information. Their brief then was to take photographs of an area within the centre of Bradford, imagining a viewer looking at their work in fifty or a hundred years into the future. Features or elements contained within their images should reveal when they were taken. In short, the future viewer should be able to say with some certainty; “That’s unmistakably Bradford, 2016” Where the archive staff feel that a student has excelled themselves, then their work will become part of the permanent archive at the Industrial Museum and join a group of dedicated documentary photographers in recording the city’s incredible history and heritage…

May 9th – June 9th 2016. Gallery in the Mill Bradford Industrial Museum
