We’re inviting you to put your images forward for our second publication, ROAD TRIP. Shutter Hub Editions, our new publishing house, launched in 2021, creating a collection of beautiful printed publications, featuring themed and solo books for people who love photography to collect.

There’s something wonderful about a road trip, whether it’s getting the best seat on the bus and going long distance to visit a relative, cycling cross-country up hill and down dale, or driving the back-roads on a journey of freedom and exploration through an unknown place, there’s a certain sense of nostalgia and adventure that can’t be matched – but it can be photographed!

We want to see your road trip images, whatever they are. Take us with you, show us how you travel, where you go, the open roads, the places you stop, the reasons you travel, and everything in-between… even the car snacks!

We want to bring photographers together in print to present a publication that people can hold in their hands and become part of this visual journey, transported through imagery.

What does ROAD TRIP mean to you?

We’re supporting this publication ourselves so that we can offer this opportunity at no cost to the photographers unless they wish to make a contribution. All we ask is that you send us your best work so we can make a significant publication to be pored over and treasured forever!

This will be a stunning book in its own right, but we also intend it to be a showcase for the photographers involved. We will promote it heavily across our networks, make it available to purchase in a variety of locations as well as directly from our online shop, and we will create a page on our website to allow people to connect directly with the photographers that are featured in the publication as we did with POETRY.

100 images will be selected for inclusion in the book. 6 images can be entered per photographer.

The publication will be perfect bound, portrait orientation 140gsm matte paper at 148 x 210mm with a 350gsm cover. The design, layout and editorial decisions will be at our discretion.

You don’t have to be a Shutter Hub member to take part, but if you’d like to find out about all the benefits of being a Shutter Hub member you can do so here.

Deadline for entries: 24 February 2022 (5pm GMT)

HOW TO ENTER

All submitted files must be named with the photographer’s name and title of work as described in the specifications. Files that are not labelled correctly may not be accepted.

Please read the specification information below.

Deadline for entries: 24 February 2022 (5pm GMT)

Please do not leave your entry until the last minute, we cannot accept any late entries.

FEES & ENTRY

There are no entry fees for ROAD TRIP, but if you would like to make a donation to help us to make this happen you are very welcome to do so as part of your entry.

Once you’ve entered there are no further fees to take part – we’ll design, promote and deliver the publication for you.

We’re making this opportunity affordable for all photographers, but it isn’t cheap to produce and we intend to recoup some of our costs with book sales. We receive no external grants or funding but we’re determined to do what we can to keep photography open to all. Unfortunately, this does mean we won’t be able to pay royalties or supply each entrant with a free copy, but we intend this to be a showcase for photographers and will promote the publication across our networks, make it available to purchase in a variety of locations as well as directly from our online shop, and create a page on our website to allow people to connect directly with the photographers that are featured in the publication as we did with POETRY. Having considered many different possibilities and options we feel this is the fairest approach.

6 images can be entered per photographer.

If you’re not a Shutter Hub member but would like to benefit from all the other lovely stuff we offer, you can join here for just £87 per year.
