2017: The Shutter Hub Year in Review

Here we are nearly at the end of 2017 – and what a year it's been!

2017 has been another brilliant year for us here at Shutter Hub.

We've been to Format Festival, doing portfolio reviews and giving the Shutter Hub award. We gave portfolio reviews at Belfast Photo Festival, Unseen Amsterdam and Renaissance Photography Prize, and gave talks and portfolio reviews at Anglia Ruskin and Northampton Universities.

We got involved with the brilliant Accumulate, giving portfolio reviews at the Photographer's Gallery, helping the photography course participants choose work for their exhibition at the Guardian offices.

We supported several awards and competitions, including Peaches and Cream, ESPY Photo Award, Photography on a Postcard, the Rebecca Vassie Memorial Award, and the Shutter Hub Photomasters Award.

We held our OPEN exhibition and portfolio reviews, talk and meet up in Edinburgh as part of Retina International Photography Festival. We opened our Artificial Things exhibition at Art at the ARB at Cambridge University, and held a private view with a talk from exhibitor Ben Altman, and an associated symposium with WomenBeing.

We were blown away by the support for our crowdfunding project to take GIRL TOWN to Tel Aviv (and we nearly got there!) GIRL TOWN was featured on the World Photography Organisation website, and in Amber Magazine.

And we won the Best Company Photography Blog at the UK Blog Awards – a prize which wouldn't have been possible without the input from our brilliant members, sharing Close Ups, 3 Top Tips, exhibitions and reviews, making our blog the wonderful hub of knowledge and information that it is!

We've worked with some lovely people from some lovely organisations including FORMAT Festival, Accumulate, Millennium Images, The Rebecca Vassie Trust, Art at the ARB, The Old Truman Brewery, Retina International Photography Festival, the World Photography Organisation, and many more – thank you all!

And of course, a big thank you to all of you reading this! Thank you for being involved in this wonderful photography community we call Shutter Hub.

What will 2018 bring?

Many more good things of course! We're kicking off with our BORDERS exhibition at the Bridewell Theatre in London, shortly followed by GIRL TOWN Tel Aviv. We'll be working with Accumulate again, and there are plenty more other exciting things in the pipeline – but we'll save that for another time.

For now, let us wish you all a fabulous Christmas and New Year. Thank you for being part of the Shutter Hub gang – we're looking forward to the adventures 2018 will bring!
