I am a portrait and event photographer working in and around London. I also study with The Open College of the Arts (OCA) developing a creative and academic practice where I aim to explore the way technology and digital media are changing and disrupting our perception of reality, destabilising and undoing what was certain, affecting our relationship with language, and at times allowing voices traditionally silenced to be heard. I try to look at the benefits as well as the costs of this seismic revolution. As well as working with moving images and still, along with text, I use found and original imagery – nowadays, how images are used feels just as important, if not more so, than the making of them.
I have been awarded a bursary by the OCA to complete my degree and was thrilled to receive a 90% mark in the latest round of assessments. I was equally pleased to read in my report, “This is comprehensive, inventive and experimental work, disseminated in a form which explores debates beyond a simple education course forum. This can only bode well for your professional practice and research in the future.”
I am also mother to three boys, aged 15, 11 and 7. They very kindly let me photograph them regularly.
