Photography offers me an opportunity to deal intensively with certain topics. The focus of my work is mostly on historical, abandoned or upheaval places whose history I deal with intensively. Most of the time these are places that move me in different ways and I get involved in them for a longer period of time. Historical information and personal conversations with local people sharpen my photographic view. In this respect, my works are not intended to be predominantly documentary, but are the result of my personal examination of places.
The photobook has emerged as the best form of presentation and thanks to various national and international prizes the most important works could be published. In 2015 my work about the Stasi-prison and prison hospital in Berlin has been published in a photobook by Kehrer Verlag. The here shown images “Schengen” are part of a larger series and will be published in a photobook in spring 2018 by Lecturis.
