I am a visual artist based in Peterborough. I enjoy highlighting and celebrating images, objects, moments and repetitions of the everyday that usually go unnoticed or are discarded. I am particularly interested in the everyday, annual rituals, celebrations and the objects that integrate within it. I am fascinated by how objects and spaces show personality traits or characteristics and the stories that they retain.
Recent themes that have become important to my practice include; nostalgia, archive, particularly my own family archive and what’s accepted or ‘makes it’ into the family archive, such as forgotten photographs, the seconds, the pictures taken just to finish the end of a film roll and found imagery. Public and the private are also of interest to me. What imagery is now published on social media, what we show and how that has changed with the development of digital – what pictures do we value anymore and are they still precious.
