Robert Richardson
In the late 70s, I studied Communication Design at the faculty of art and design of a London polytechnic. I’ve also studied Education at a teacher training college and a university. For many years, I worked as a lecturer, first in further education and then higher (De Montfort University, Leicester). I now work independently as a visual artist and writer. I produce artworks in various visual media, though for around 10 years, at the beginning of this century, I concentrated on photography. I have three framed exhibitions: Bright Side Up (fairs and markets of the town where I live, Melton Mowbray); French Windows (photographs taken in different regions of France); Romeinaround (photographs taken on a visit to Rome). To begin with, I was trying, through photography, to create my own version of Pop Art. After this, I became more interested in street photography, with a strong influence from the French humanist photographers. This continues and merges with photographing in the different countries I visit. I have exhibited at various venues in the UK, and this has included Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park and the Museum of Classical Archaeology, Cambridge University. In 2018, I had a solo exhibition at the Museu Municipal in Faro, Portugal.
