Jooeun Bae

Jooeun Bae is a collage-photographer. She was born in South Korea. At the age of 15, she moved to the United States independently to study for a decade. There were many new cultures for her, but they melted into her without a sense of difference. Therefore, she was able to form a sense of herself that harmonized Korean, her human nature, and the American culture. As her process of growth, she was fascinated with the idea of making one by mixing different elements. Thus, collage is an essential method that allows her to put her imaginations together. For the reasons, she has chosen to be a collage-photographer, among many other specialties in photography.

Jooeun Bae is a graduate of International Center of Photography in Manhattan, New York. After the graduate show at ICP, she was invited by SFA Projects to exhibit her works in NYC, and her works were featured in Musee Magazine in Issue 22. Also, she presented her works in Cologne, Germany, as public art. She got a handful of opportunities to show her works on PhotoVogue. She has appeared on Refinery 29, the Atlantic, TIME, and WIRED illustrating articles through collage photography. Her works have also been selected for the longlist of Foam Talent Call 2021, the Exposure Photography Festival 2021, and one of the most voted artists exhibited at Helsinki Photo Festival 2021. She presented her newest project, ‘Mono-‘ in Berlin and Paris as one of the winners of the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award. Her works have been selected by 1854 media for Fast Track, Edition 365, and Portrait of Humanity and are expected to exhibit at PHOTO 2022 in Melbourne. She has been thriving her career with her unique photographic collage style.
