Gwen Campbell
Gwen had taken photographs since the 1970s and worked on various projects and exhibited regularly, in solo shows or more recently with 13 Group and LIP.
Most of these are part of various series of landscapes, some taken to highlight the pristine and fragile nature of the Irish Atlantic coastal environment in light of possible fracking in the area. Others taken in Scotland were just a response the weather and ever changing light on these far northern coastlines and hills.
Included in the portfolio are works of Gwen’s during the 1980’s taken at The Place in London, of dancers photographed in black and white in the studio and on stage performing.
The last images are from Northern Afghanistan in the winter of 1975. They form part of a series of photographs taken, documenting various aspects of life in Afghanistan at that time from Buskashi matches to village life.
