Caitlin Griffiths

Caitlin Griffiths is an artist based in Manchester, shortlisted for the Greater Manchester Prize in 2019.

Taking its title from an often shared Niels Bohr’s quote on the nature of Quantum Physics: ‘Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real’  is an ongoing body of work exploring the relationship between reality and individual identity, drawing on photography’s means to observe and document place, people and performance.

Still Life Art Schrödinger is a series of still lives pairing an unopened box with an open box. Bohr’s Copenhagen Interpretation is commonly explained through the Schrödinger’s Cat thought experiment, that reality is only summoned into existence through the act of observing it.
