We wrote before about the difficulties we’d had with getting the GIRL TOWN exhibition to Tel Aviv, and how we’d had to postpone everything. Now we’re writing to share the good news, GIRL TOWN will be showing at Alfred Gallery, Tel Aviv from 8th February to 9th March 2018, with an exhibition preview on 2nd February.
The flights are booked. It’s happening.
After fees, the Indiegogo crowd funder raised an amazing £629, thank you all so much. Not only did some of the exhibitors donate, but also other wonderful photographers and Shutter Hub members who really believe in this project, and for that we are all hugely grateful.
To add to that, the wonderful people at backHer donated $300. So kind.
Whilst we know this isn’t enough to cover everything we need to do, it goes a long way towards it, and we will be funding the rest of the trip ourselves from outside of Shutter Hub.
We will also be making a donation to the Rise Together Fund to help women & girls rising from poverty and oppression to gain access to basic needs, education, health-care, and business skills.
GIRL TOWN: Celebrating the Culture of the Female in the 21st Century. An investigative exhibition curated through Instagram, originally shown at Photomonth East London International Photography Festival. Photographers from around the world share their interpretation of what it means to be female today, in a time of constant socio-political and economic change.
Join us in Tel Aviv for the Exhibition Preview from 12:00 – 13:00 on Friday 2 February 2018.
We will also be hosting a portfolio review and discussion session where we are inviting people to come along and share their work, and open up conversations about how we can develop the exchange of exhibitions and projects between us all.
Let us know you’re coming by RSVPing to our Facebook event, here.
