STREET / FORM is about photography’s relationship with the urban landscape and street culture. The juxtaposition of shape and form, the encounters with the unknown, the intimacy with strangers.

Find inspiration in the street: shape / form / colour / contrast / abstract / angles / portrait / cityscape / culture / juxtaposition / pattern / light / shadow / urban / landscape / art.*

We’re inviting you to enter up to 6 images to be printed on punchy and democratic full-bleed newspaper print from Newspaper Club.

*(Please don’t directly photograph and submit images of other people’s street art – but do work with it as the basis for an exploration of how street art interacts with its environment).

Each entrant can submit up to six images. These can be from a series or individual images. All submitted files must be named with photographers name and title of work. Please read the specification information below.

We’ve subsidised the fee for Shutter Hub members to take part. The conditions of entry allow exhibitors to save on print, framing and courier fees which we hope encourages wider participation in our international exhibitions.

Deadline for entries: 5pm BST on Monday 19 August 2019

Please do not leave your entry until the last minute, we cannot accept any late entries.

Members: 1 image £10. Up to 3 images £20. Up to 6 images £30.
Non-members: 1 image £20. Up to 3 images £40. Up to 6 images £60.

Each entrant can submit up to 6 images as 5MB CMYK or Greyscale JPEG digital files.

Please try to match the proportions of 470mm x 700mm as closely as possible. We want to fill every bit of the printed page and leave no white paper on view.

Deadline for entries: 5pm BST on Monday 19 August 2019

If you’re not a Shutter Hub member but would like to benefit from lower entry fees on this and other exhibitions, as well as all the other lovely stuff we offer, you can join here for just £80 per year.

We will be in touch to inform entrants of the outcome whether they have been selected or not within 7 days of the deadline. We always get in touch, so, if for any reason you don’t hear from us, please email.

  • All submitted files must be named with photographers name and title of work
    e.g. david_hasselhoff_best_photograph_ever_ever
  • Images can be portrait or landscape format.
  • Work that is to be displayed together needs to be all the same format, i.e. all landscape, or all portrait.
  • Images must be able to fit within the proportions of 470mm x 700mm. Images that are submitted in the other ratios may be cropped to fit at our discretion.
  • CMYK or greyscale (Black and white images should be set to print greyscale).
  • Colour profiles – You can use any generic CMYK colour profile. We will manage colour before printing, to reduce ink coverage to an acceptable level for newsprint.
  • Submitted images must be no more than 5MB 300dpi uncompressed jpeg digital files.

We will contact successful entrants to request larger files for print if they are required.

Remember, newspaper printing is an industrial process designed for speed and economy. The outcomes of this printing process will be different to the usual prints, and colours on screen, that you may be used to. This is part of the beauty of working in this medium.
