We’re really excited to let you know that we are launching Shutter Hub Editions in 2021, our new publishing house. Shutter Hub Editions will be creating a collection of beautiful printed publications, featuring themed and solo books for people who love photography to collect.
We’d like to invite you to be a part of our first edition, which we want to fill with your images around the theme of POETRY.
While we’re not asking for actual written poems, we’d like you to think about things you see that are comparable to poems – images that express your feelings and ideas. We’ve all had so much to process, adapt to and take action on in recent months – we’d like this to be an opportunity for you to concentrate on work that gives you some respite, salve for your eyes and mind. We want to bring photographers together in print to present a publication that people can hold in their hands and spend time delving into for a moment of calm escapism.
We want to explore POETRY in all its connotations and bring them together in beautiful printed pages.
What does POETRY mean to you?
We’re supporting this publication ourselves so that we can offer this opportunity at no cost to the photographers unless they wish to make a contribution. All we ask is that you send us your best work so we can make a significant publication to be pored over and treasured forever!
This will be a gorgeous book in its own right, but we also intend it to be a showcase for the photographers involved. We will promote it heavily across our networks, make it available to purchase in a variety of locations as well as directly from our online shop, and we will create a page on our website to allow people to connect directly with the photographers that are featured in the publication as we did with YEARBOOK.
100 images will be selected for inclusion in the book. You can enter single images or a short series of images, up to 6 images can be entered per photographer.
The publication will be perfect bound, portrait orientation 140gsm matte paper at 148 x 210mm with a 350gsm cover. The design, layout and editorial decisions will be at our discretion.
You don’t have to be a Shutter Hub member to take part, but if you’d like to find out about all the benefits of being a Shutter Hub member you can do so here.
Deadline for entries: 18 February 2021 (5pm GMT)

THE BRIEF
We’re asking for entries from anyone who would like to be part of a beautiful book of images around the theme of POETRY.
HOW TO ENTER
All submitted files must be named with the photographer’s name and title of work as described in the specifications. Files that are not labelled correctly may not be accepted.
Please read the specification information below.
Deadline for entries: 18 February 2021 (5pm GMT)
Please do not leave your entry until the last minute, we cannot accept any late entries.
FEES & ENTRY
There are no entry fees for POETRY, but if you would like to make a donation to help us to make this happen you are very welcome to do so as part of your entry.
Once you’ve entered there are no further fees to take part – we’ll design, promote and deliver the publication for you.
We’re making this opportunity affordable for all photographers, but it isn’t cheap to produce and we intend to recoup some of our costs with book sales. We receive no external grants or funding but we’re determined to do what we can to keep photography open to all. Unfortunately, this does mean we won’t be able to pay royalties or supply each entrant with a free copy, but we intend this to be a showcase for photographers and will promote the publication across our networks, make it available to purchase in a variety of locations as well as directly from our online shop, and create a page on our website to allow people to connect directly with the photographers that are featured in the publication as we did with YEARBOOK. Having considered many different possibilities and options we feel this is the fairest approach.
You can enter single images or a short series of images, up to 6 images can be entered per photographer.
If you’re not a Shutter Hub member but would like to benefit from all the other lovely stuff we offer, you can join here for just £80 per year.
