Rick Blumsack
Rick Blumsack moved to Israel from the United States in 2009. He leads two lives — as a fine art street photographer and an international business lawyer. (He’s a graduate of Harvard Law School.)
Rick’s approach to photography was summed up well by the great American philosopher Yogi Berra when he said, “You can observe a lot by watching.”
Rick strives to capture poignant, humorous and beautiful images from simple encounters with people, wildlife and our surroundings. He believes we must never take for granted the forms and meaning we see all around us.
While there are many excellent examples of fictional images in the photographic art world today, Rick prefers the truth of real life experiences. Aside from a self-portrait, none of the depicted scenes was staged or designed on a computer.
Rick’s work has been exhibited widely in Israel, the United States and Poland. He was privileged to be a featured photographer in the February 2018 edition of Lens Magazine, and he was the Write-Haus “Sunday Showcase” Artist on 9 April 2023. His photo “Night Snowfall” was awarded Honorable Mention at the 2022 Annual Photography Awards.
