You are invited to join us for a special Meet Up featuring a curator’s talk at the Sainsbury Centre, Norwich on 27 June 2024, 10.30 – 1.30pm.

Joining the Centre’s six-month long investigation into What is Truth? is an exhibition re-evaluating the most iconic images of the past 100 years. The Camera Never Lies: Challenging images through The Incite Project will explore the impact and influence photography has had on shaping – and in some cases distorting – the narrative of major global events.

Featuring more than 100 works by legendary photographers including Don McCullin, Stuart Franklin, Robert Capa and Dorothea Lange, as well as modern practitioners, this extensive exhibition charts a global century of iconic documentation and manipulation.

We’ll spend the morning enjoying an exclusive talk and tour of the exhibition by The Centre’s Chief Curator of Art, Tania Moore, and Curator of Cultural Empowerment, Taf Makwabarara. There will also be time to explore the other temporary exhibitions and permanent collection, as well as a break to enjoy some tea and cake!

The Sainsbury Centre is a world-class art museum with a unique perspective on how art can foster cultural dialogue and exchange.

Following a radical relaunch in 2023, the Sainsbury Centre is the first museum in the world to formally recognise the living lifeforce of art whilst helping people to reframe and answer the most important questions they have in their lives.

One of the first museums in the world to display art from all around the globe and from all time periods equally and collectively, Sir Robert and Lady Lisa Sainsbury created one of the most sought after yet non-conformist art collections, housed in Sir Norman Foster’s revolutionary first ever public building.

Photography of the Sainsbury Centre and its Sculpture Park is encouraged, so bring along your cameras and get creative. Please share your images from the day with us and we’ll showcase some images in a feature on the Shutter Hub website and across our social channels.

This event is free for and exclusive to Shutter Hub members and we are limited to a maximum of 10 spaces, so if you’d like to come along, RSVP here to secure your spot!

Shutter Hub and Sainsbury Centre will be working in collaboration on an online exhibition ‘Your Lens, Your Truth’ in response to this exhibition, so look out for more news coming soon on how you can take part!
