POSTCARDS FROM EUROPE opened on 12 January 2022 at Art at the ARB at Cambridge University. The exhibition, which runs until 25 February 2022, also features a selection of images from POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN, marking the 20th and final exhibition in the series of pop-up exhibitions for this project.
Printed on reams of newspaper, the images are accessible and communicative in their presentation, inviting viewers to engage with them. If you can’t make it to the exhibition in person we hope you’ll enjoy seeing these images and that you’ll experience it here virtually.

The POSTCARDS FROM EUROPE exhibition has been created from a call for response and collaboration, triggered by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and reflecting on POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN. In a significant time in history this exhibition sets out to share aspects of European culture, spanning all genres of photography, and collating images which include social, political, historical, traditional and observational responses.
POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN is a large-scale project from Shutter Hub, which invited photographers to share their visions of British culture through photographic images taken over a four year period between 01 January 2016 and 31 December 2020. Exhibitions were held in 19 locations across Europe, showcasing thousands of postcard-sized images and culminating in this final showcase with Art at the ARB at the University of Cambridge.
Every image submitted to POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN has been collated as an archival catalogue, to be housed in libraries and archives around the world, including The British Library, Cambridge University Library, and Victoria and Albert Museum, amongst others.
