Sometimes she’d fallen, but rarely; although she was blind she had lived in that house for 60 years, she knew every inch of it. A house filled with memories of her husband, their life together, and her aloneness after his death. On this one day that she called out, she was found sitting with the television on, a black and white film playing out a romantic scene from the 1950s. ‘Do you like love, Pippy?’ she said, ‘I like love.’
