Postcards from Great Britain is a largescale project from Shutter Hub, inviting photographers to share their visions of British culture through photographic images taken over the four year period of 01 January 2016 and 31 December 2020.
Exhibitions were held in 20 locations across Europe, showcasing thousands of postcard-sized images and culminating in a final showcase at Art at the ARB at the University of Cambridge 12 January – 25 February 2022. Every image submitted to Postcards from Great Britain has been collated into a print catalogue, to be housed in libraries and archives around the world, and 100 images were selected for a collectable postcard set.
In a significant time in European history this project set out to document and share aspects of British culture, spanning all genres of photography, and collating images which include social, political, historical, traditional and observational responses.
Due to COVID-19 many exhibitions had to be cancelled, plans canned, or postponed. We responded to the situation with our pop-up exhibition plan, which you can find out more about here: POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN: Reaching Out / Staying In and get an overview of the 2020 and 2021 pop-up exhibitions here: POP-UP: POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN EXHIBITIONS ACROSS EUROPE IN 2020/2021
