The City Series by Shutter Hub is an ongoing publishing project exploring the people, places, cultures, and contradictions that shape cities around the world. Rather than documenting a location as a fixed subject, the series invites photographers to respond to a city as an idea: something experienced, observed, imagined, and interpreted through the photographic eye.

For its second edition, we turn our attention to London in partnership with Battersea Power Supplies, a new museum and shop celebrating Battersea Power Station. We invite photographers from across the globe to contribute to a major publication celebrating one of the world’s most photographed, complex, and ever-changing cities.

We want to see London in all its forms: iconic and overlooked, monumental and intimate, historic and contemporary. From landmarks to backstreets, communities to individuals, rituals to routines, show us the city as you encounter it. Capture its energy, tensions, beauty, diversity, humour, ambition, and everyday life.

This collaboration brings together photography, heritage, and cultural exchange. Battersea Power Station stands as one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, a symbol of innovation, transformation, and collective vision. Together, we invite you to help create a compelling photographic portrait of London today.

Show us your London!

Selected submissions will be featured in the 100 image photobook, produced by Shutter Hub Editions and available at Battersea Power Supplies Museum shop, online through shutterhub.org.uk and with selected stockists.

The City Series: London will launch on Friday 20th November at Battersea Power Supplies Museum, London. All photographers who submit their work will be invited to come together for the celebration and connect with the wider Shutter Hub community.

The City Series: London is created in collaboration with Battersea Power Supplies Museum.

THE BRIEF

An ongoing series of publications, The City Series sets out to explore the people, places, and cultures that shape cities around the world, showcasing images that respond to a place not as a fixed subject, but as an idea shaped by experience, observation, and interpretation.

For our second edition, we’re turning our attention to London and teaming up with Battersea Power Supplies Museum – inviting photographers from around the world to capture the city in all its complexity – show us your London!

The collaboration aims not only to spotlight creative talent but also to connect communities and promote cultural exchange. Battersea Power Supplies Museum celebrates the London landmark, tracing its journey from pioneering electricity supplier to cultural icon, highlighting the vision, innovation and collaboration behind its transformation into one of London’s most vibrant destinations.

We’d love to see creative and considered images of London, the sense of place, the landmarks, the people, the everyday – show us what you see.

Selected submissions will be featured in the 100 image photobook, produced by Shutter Hub Editions and available at Battersea Power Supplies Museum shop, online through shutterhub.org.uk and with selected stockists.
