Photography equipment donations have been used to make a positive difference for the individuals, charities, and organisations we support, including the following projects:
Accumulate – We built a camera library for their participants and worked with them to organise workshops and portfolio reviews at The Photographers Gallery, and an exhibition with The Guardian.
Cumbria Cerebral Palsy Centre – The centre was enabled to add photography to their list of regular creative activities for their day centre users due to a donation of cameras provided by Camera Amnesty.
Filming for Humanity – We provided camcorders which supported their project documenting and promoting human rights. Their mission is to raise awareness about social causes in England and beyond, enabling everyone to contribute to humanity without spending a penny.
‘Finding Home’ Project – We provided equipment for a photography project and workshop highlighting the photographic work of asylum seekers from Iraq, Iran and Yemen. ‘Finding Home’ was a unique insight into the lives of those who have fled their countries in search of safety, protection, and a better life.
Fotohane Darkroom – We provided photographic equipment, hosted an online exhibition of work created by Syrian children as part of the project and continue to support their workshops.
Headway East London – We supported in establishing a regular photo group for their members, encouraging them to explore new art forms previously unavailable to them, as well as providing access to digital cameras for those who use images to supplement their short-term memory.
Hestia – We supported Hestia’s annual art photography exhibition, Art is Freedom. Survivors supported by Hestia’s Modern Slavery Response Service take part in art and photography workshops every summer, learning and refining their skills, before submitting their best pieces for the exhibition.
Kreatives Foundation – By providing photography equipment and support, we helped launch the BIG PICTURE, a program for disadvantaged and at-risk youths in Kenya. Using this equipment, the Foundation now hosts dedicated photography workshops across Kenya’s National Libraries. They’ve hosted a media camp with St. John’s Ambulance, and have seen 5 cohorts of young people, including the Maasai Gender and Health Rights Initiative and Nairobi Metropolitan Street Teens Project, learn career-building skills through photography.
MIND – We provided digital cameras to their Haringey location and supported them in setting up a photography workshop for mental health patients in North London, allowing them to learn new skills and express themselves through photography.
Norfolk and Suffolk Hospital Trust – We provided over 20 digital point and shoot cameras for patients to use as part of their mental health care – offering them the opportunity to use photography as a creative outlet and means of expression.
Olive Branch Arts and Women’s Support Centre Armenia – By providing cameras for the project, we enabled the project to work creatively with refugees and other displaced communities in the UK and abroad through innovative arts-based experiences and training programmes to building relationships across communities to promote love, dignity and care for all people who seek refuge.
The Sunshine Project – We supported the Powell-Cotton Museum in setting up a nature photography workshop for adults with learning difficulties, experiencing social isolation, or with mental health struggles.
Tiwale – We helped establish Tiwale’s photography workshops with donations of cameras, providing access to beginner photography lessons for children aged 10-15 years in the Namibian refugee settlements. The children have developed a passion for photography and are using their new skills to find their voices and discover new ways of telling their stories.
VII Academy – We provided free portfolio reviews for the organisation, and photographic equipment for Ukrainian photographers taking part in their Dispatches in Exile projects.
