The Shutter Hub Environmental Impact Award for Photography celebrates and supports photographers who use their photography to promote environmental awareness, provoke action, and document critical ecological narratives. This award honours creativity that not only captures the natural world’s beauty, but also grapples with its fragility – echoing our urgent need for sustainable change.

Photography’s universal language makes it a powerful vehicle for storytelling, capable of translating complex ecological issues into compelling visual narratives.

The Shutter Hub Environmental Impact Award for Photography was created to support work that bridges factual urgency and emotional resonance. We would like to see projects that challenge audiences, inspire new perspectives, and contribute to real-world environmental solutions.

The winning photographer will receive a package including guidance, practical resources, and dedicated support to help them in taking their work to the next level, creating more impact, and reaching wider audience. This includes assistance in preparing the project for exhibition or publication at a high professional standard, tailored PR support, industry introductions, and a financial award of £500 to support the production of the project.

Six shortlisted photographers will be introduced to each other to form a cohort where they can share support and guidance, connect with industry professionals and each other, develop new skills, and promote their work to a wider audience – all with the additional support and advice of the Shutter Hub team.

Submissions are open to photographers across all genres – not just documentary. We would like to see proposals that inspire action, elevate underrepresented voices, and deliver measurable social value. They can be brand new projects or projects that are already partly underway.

Submission deadline: 30 June 2026. All applicants will be contacted within 3 months of the deadline.
