FreshFaced + WildEyed at The Photographers' Gallery is a prestigious annual celebration of new photographic talent. This year 25 emerging photographers and artists have been selected from an open submission process, and we proudly note that Shutter Hub members Sian Davey and Alexandra Lethbridge are amongst them. Well done all those who were selected!
We previously ran an interview with Alexandra Lethbridge after this year's FORMAT International Photography Festival, where she was awarded the Clifton Cameras Prize. She said about her selection this year:
Being selected for Fresh Faced + Wild Eyed is such a honour. Having followed the award in previous years and seeing the calibre of work chosen, to have The Meteorite Hunter acknowledged and included is really very special.
Sian Davey was previously mentioned on this blog having been selected for last year's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize show. She said:
I was fortunate enough to be a finalist in the Photographers Gallery ‘Bar Tur Book Award’ last year and to be back there so soon in the ‘Fresh and Wild’ graduate show, with such good company, is really exciting. I have selected work from the Looking for Alice series which concerns both mine and society’s relationship towards difference and what gets in the way of being able to love without condition.
Entrants were chosen by a judging panel of photography experts: Kate Cooper, Auto Italia, A K Dolven, artist and photographer, Damien Poulain, Oodee Books and Brett Rogers, Director, The Photographers' Gallery. The finalists have all graduated in the past year from BA and MA visual arts courses across the UK with photography and/or digital media forming the main component of their practice.
Freshfaced + Wildeyed 2015 will take place between16 June and 5 July 2015 at The Photographers' Gallery, 16 – 18 Ramillies St, London W1F 7LW. For further information see the website here.
