Paris, Peckham was born out of the yearning to document afrocentric fashion as seen on the streets of my neighbourhood in South East London.

As much as I normally prefer and enjoy working with high definition cameras I wanted to capture those street scenes incognito, adopting a non-intrusive approach to steer away from prose.

In keeping with the tradition of reportage photographers who sacrificed definition in scaling down from large format to 35mm for the sake of a new style, here I play with this ubiquitous and unavoidable witness of today's street life: the smart phone. Easily unnoticed for its omnipresence in all situations, the device allws me to catch what legendary photographer Henri Cartier Bresson coined as 'the decisive moment".
