On this one day course we will cover:
Inspiration from others’ work; what makes a good portrait photograph? Storytelling and emotion, how your choices as a photographer impact upon how you present your portrait subject, choosing the right equipment, location and subject for your style, composition, use of colour and posing.
We will explore these topics via presentations by the tutors, group discussion and practical sessions photographing each other and models arranged by us.
How do we teach?
Our sessions are taught by two experienced, widely exhibited and published professional photographers, Ciara Menzies and Anneleen Lindsay. We have small limited groups for our sessions, enabling us to spend some time one-to-one talking to you about your personal approach to photography and to tailor the course according to the skills and levels of individual members.
We will look at inspiration from other artists, have group discussions and there will be lots of fun, creative practical assignments, enabling you to hone your skills and try out new ones. You will all have the opportunity to photograph us, each other and models we have arranged for you, using different locations and backdrops. Each participant will have the opportunity to take the lead themselves, so you can all come away with portraits that are unique.
We will provide fresh coffee, tea, water and tasty cake. There will be a lunch break; please feel free to either bring your own lunch or pop to one of the many eating establishments nearby.
