What we cover
Our focus for this session is on creative styling for lifestyle photography, still life compositions, food photography and how to capture life in a natural way. This session has a CPD element, looking at how you can use images to communicate and tell a story. It would be particularly helpful to makers, bloggers, artists and small businesses seeking to create new images to showcase their own creations and services – or for anyone with an interest in still life. lifestyle and food photography.
Topics covered include: Props, how to use light, developing a process, storytelling though images, choosing the right equipment, location and subject for your style, composition, and use of colour.
We will explore these topics via presentations by the tutors, group discussion and practical sessions. We will provide a range of exciting props and locations to help transform your photography.
How we teach
Our sessions are taught by two experienced professional photographers, Ciara Menzies (co-author / photographer of Scottish interiors and lifestyle book The Coorie Home) and Anneleen Lindsay (long-time Shutter Hub member and internationally exhibited, published and commissioned photographer).
We have small limited groups for our sessions, enabling us to spend some time one-to-one talking to you about your personal approach to photography and tailor the course according to the skills and levels of individual members.
We will look at inspiration from other artists, have group discussions about what makes a good photograph and there will be lots of fun, creative practical assignments enabling you to hone your skills and try out new ones.
We will provide fresh coffee, tea, water and tasty cake. There will be a lunch break, please feel free to bring your own lunch or pop to one of the many eating establishments nearby. Central is in Tollcross and surrounded by great cafes, supermarkets and takeaways.
What do i need to bring?
