Vacancy: Audience Development Co-ordinator | Amber Film & Photography Collective

7th September 2020, North East, Part time

Laura Laffler

Description: Amberside audience development co-ordinator, 2 days per week / £13,000 pa (£32,500 pro rata), fixed term until March 31st 2021 (with opportunity to extend).

This is a new role and we are looking for someone to challenge the status quo. The Audience Development Co-ordinator will be responsible for connecting directly with diverse communities throughout the region, broadening our audience and bringing forward community-led programming. You will lead the co-ordination of Side Gallery & Cinema’s new Curatorial Advisory Board. You will support the development of income generation as well as establish new outreach initiatives e.g. Young Curators Group.

In the spirit of integrated practice, you will work alongside the Amber CIC Directors, Side Gallery Team, Amber Education and Amber Production to contribute to a relevant, diverse, and powerful programme.

Amber is an equal opportunities employer and actively seeks to employ people currently under-represented in the creative and cultural sector. This includes young people, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.

There is a lack of representation of ordinary lives and people – especially those who identify as working class and those from marginalised and diverse communities – in film and photography. Their stories and culture – from the mundane to the extraordinary – are not showcased, shared and celebrated by the world. That is what Amber Film & Photography Collective is here to challenge.

As a film and photography Collective, we put the working class, marginalised and diverse communities front and centre – they are who we create work with. We exhibit with them in our Gallery, we show films by and about them in our Cinema, we preserve their stories, cultures and visual narratives in our Collection, we engage in ongoing work within our collaborative practice through our Productions.
