Join us for a special evening to launch our new exhibitions at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens and Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, curated in partnership with NEPN.
Observe Experiment Archive at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, explores the parallels between photography and scientific methods such as observation, experimentation and archiving. The exhibition considers how contemporary photographic artists can respond to both scientific innovation and historical collections, their work transforming our world through light and lens.
Featuring photographic artists Mandy Barker, Tessa Bunney,
Liza Dracup, Sophie Ingleby, Helen McGhie, Maria McKinney, Robert Zhao Renhui, Penelope Umbrico.

Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art also presents This Is What I See, a mid-career retrospective of Marjolaine Ryley in parallel. Marjolaine Ryley is an artist who works with photography and text, often in relation to archives and social movements. This encompasses projects created over a full two decades, as well as a brand new series created from
2015 to 2019.
