Tutor: Paul Cowan
Landscape photography is one of the most popular and enduring genres of photography. It is the art of capturing the outdoors in a way that is individual to you and conveys meaning to the viewer. This project day will help you get the most out of your camera and develop your critical eye, encouraging self expression and allowing you to achieve striking landscape images.
We will begin the day by looking at some examples of landscape photography and discussing the theory and techniques used to achieve them.
We will explore a variety of city and mountain environments, all within a short walk from Stills’ base. We will concentrate on three key decisions each time we shoot: exposure, focus, frame. Three decisions that allow the photographer to develop confidence and proficiency in their camera handling, as well as providing the foundations of aesthetic and creative control that are unique to photography.
