We’re delighted to announce that the winner of the Shutter Hub Prize, at the 2019 ESPY photography Award, is Áine Kelly. The prize offers Shutter Hub membership and mentorship, and for us, giving this award and working with the ESPY photography Award and Elysium Gallery has been an important way of learning about new and diverse work, supporting a wider community and reaching out to new audiences. We’re really pleased to recognise Áine’s work, and welcome her to the Shutter Hub gang!
“I’m thrilled to have been awarded the Shutter Hub Prize. I was really impressed with the standard of work at the Espy exhibition and delighted to have been exhibited alongside other photographers with really interesting alternative processes and ideas. With the Shutter Hub membership I hope to keep up to date with other members works, submit my work to future open calls and receive mentorship to help me continue my practice in the right direction, “
– Áine Kelly.
Áine Kelly is an Irish visual artist specialising in photography and sculpture. She graduated in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art and Design in 2016. Currently, her work examines the nature of photographical representation and what its role plays in today’s image choked world. Her practice involves an investigative approach in order to find new ways to capture an authentic ‘photograph’. Releasing herself from the camera, she works directly with light sensitive papers, scanners, lenses, transparent materials, and most importantly, light.
The ESPY photography Award, in partnership with Elysium Gallery, is a biennial open submission photography exhibition based in Swansea, Wales and welcomes entries from UK & International artists.
