EVERYDAY DELIGHT (Windows Edition)

© Naomi James

Our original EVERYDAY DELIGHT print exhibition was an amazing success, followed by EVERYDAY DELIGHT (Stay at Home Edition), where we created the most beautiful online exhibition. Now, to complete the trilogy, we bring you EVERYDAY DELIGHT (Windows Edition). That’s right!

When we launched our call for European windows for our POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN pop-ups we had dozens of beautiful people across the UK say ‘Hey! We have windows, we want to get involved with something too!’

So, let’s do this! It’s time to share the joy directly with the strangers on the street.

Our friends at Newspaper Club are on board and will be printing beautiful big posters of selected works for us, to be shown in windows across the country. (We’ll be printing on bright 90gsm paper, it’s whiter and thicker than the usual newspaper, and is perfect for this!)

Want to exhibit? Carry on! Fill out the entry form on the next page.

Got a window and want to get involved? Drop us an email with your location and a picture of your windows!

EVERYDAY DELIGHT might be something to be enjoyed between the rise and set of the sun, it’s a prompt to look for joy, to appreciate the little things – flowers growing through cracked pavements, cake crumbs on a plate, rippled shadows, low sun through high trees, accidental colour schemes in the street, raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens… hang on!

In a world where we seem to have more to worry about every day it’s not always easy to find the positive view, but we are hoping that this revisit to the EVERYDAY DELIGHT theme will give viewers something to think about and to focus on temporarily, and perhaps to come away seeing things differently.

Let’s share powerful photography that uncovers the beauty in the everyday, finds the magic in the mundane, and helps others look for the joy in the small things.

We’re inviting you to enter up to 5 images to be exhibited in windows across the UK, as part of this third incarnation of one of our most favourite themes to date.

There are no set entry fees for EVERYDAY DELIGHT (Windows Edition), we’re asking you to ‘pay what you can’. If you’re lucky enough to be in employment, or getting financial support, we hope you’ll help us support those who aren’t. We receive no external grants or funding, but we’re determined to do what we can to keep photography open to all.

Deadline for entries: 25 June 2020 (5pm BST)

EVERYDAY DELIGHT (Windows Edition) is supported by:

SPECIFICATIONS FOR ENTRIES

  • All submitted files must be named with photographers name and title of work. Files that are not labelled correctly may not be accepted. Correct file naming looks like this: david_hasselhoff_best_photograph_ever_ever
  • Images can be landscape or portrait format
  • CMYK or greyscale images only. You can use any generic CMYK colour profile. We will manage colour before printing, to reduce ink coverage to an acceptable level for newsprint.
  • Submitted images must be jpegs, 4000 pixels wide and no more than 5MB in size. We will contact successful entrants to request larger files for print if they are required.

Remember, newspaper printing is an industrial process designed for speed and economy. The outcomes of this printing process will be different to the usual prints, and colours on screen, that you may be used to. This is part of the beauty of working in this medium. We’ll be printing on bright 90gsm paper, it’s whiter and thicker than the usual newspaper, and is perfect for posters.

  • Images must be suitable for a family audience.
  • Shutter Hub reserves the right to not display work.
  • Please read the Terms and Conditions for further details.

We will be in touch to inform entrants of the outcome whether they have been selected or not within 14 days of the deadline. We always get in touch, so, if for any reason you don’t hear from us, please email.
